Re: Feeding Thief Ants
Anyone know what to feed a new Thief Ant colony in a test tube, with about 3 workers. I need protein and sweet stuff. Solenopsis molesta have a peculiar diet. They are also known as 'grease ants' since they prefer insects and grease over insects and carbs. I once owned a colony, and they seemed to ...

Re: Poop in the nest
I'd say leave it be for the moment. The Ants clearly think their nest is still big enough to have an 'indoor-garbage site/graveyard.) They'll likely start transporting it out either once they decide they need the space, or when it becomes a threat to the colony (by attracting molds/fungus) Maybe add...

Re: Help choosing gear pack please!
I can understand the confusion. At first I was trying to choose which formicarium (gear pack) to order. I didn’t have a reply to my post in time so I just ordered the Camponotus pack plus a 2nd Camponotus formicarium so I could expand the nest or move them to the other if needed down the road. Well...

Re: Question: Vibrations
Thanks. Just had an idea... You know those round patches of soft material you can put on the legs of chairs and tables so they won't damage the floor? Adding a couple of those to the underside of your setup would probably do the trick as well, and is more aesthetically pleasing than a mat of some s...

(Actually working on a way to cool the soil, to induce hibernation as well. Haven't posted that part yet)

Re: newbiee
thank you and do you think I should use the field and forest biome for the outworld? Had to look at the AntsCanada website to figure out what you were talking about lol. You could use that biome kit indeed. I am not a fan of artificial plants myself, but that's completely up to you. The potting gro...

Re: Help!!! Queens with parasitic fungus!
2 things - did you transfer the brood of the dead queen to one of the others? She can raise the brood for you, and jumpstart her colony. - adding a few drops of lemon juice works for the mites, it might kill any fungus too, because of its acidity? So you could remove the dead queen, add some drops o...
