The statement was made from not only the company POV to help discourage the practice of taking any ant across state lines or country borders that do not allow a person to do so. I'm not sure about Thailand, but it is definitely illegal in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia in addition to the U.S. I mean, technically it's only illegal if OP gets caught.
