Thank you! Those are the two species I was thinking anyway, I thought it strange to find one this early in Canada so possibly Myrmica... I guess I will have a better chance identifying once there are workers

Which species of ant is this?
Found near Edmonton Alberta Canada about a week ago. Seems smaller than any queen ant image I can find. Sorry it is not better quality or closer, my phone is not great
