I myself have no experience whatsoever with camponotus ants but i think that sounds like a very good and interesting idea. But i could be completely wrong so i would wait for an experts opinion.

And no one said don't move them to a Formicarium! I did what I thought best and for your information they are doing splendidly. The issue is that when a formicarium is too large for a colony, they use the extra unused space to store their rubbish. This can lead to outbreaks of mould and harmful bac...

where did you find her, she might be Temnothorax depending on where she was found, Myrmica normally has one or more pronounced spikes in between her messosoma and gaster. I cant see these spikes and Myrmica is usually red. her gaster is large compared to her head. Myrmica has a very skinny gaster s...

Myrmica rubra

I know that Myrmica Rubra are a very polygynous specie of ant with up to hundreds of queens in one nest but is a single queen able to raise a colony. I ask this cuz I found a single myrmica queen (I believe it's Rubra). Also if I find another one will it be accepted into the colony.

Is this Myrmica or Temnothrax? Also what specific type in that genus. Shes about 5mm
