Found a big ant. Probably a worker; her thorax isn't that "thick" or "high", her gaster doesn't have the "arc-ish, elongation" many queens seem to have, and I don't see any definitive marks of wing scars (though I must admit I am not really sure what wing scars look like). I found some pheidol nests in south eastern pa and was really hoping I would find some queens because they are my native dream ants. The test tube portal would be the easiest, but you should investigate why the barrier did not work. What did you use? I used a plastic bin and put the test tube setup inside I also put a lid on the container and poked very small holes in it then placed dead crickets with honey in the setup as well ...

The first queen is a Formica social parasite from the sanguinea group. She will need Formica pupae if you are going to keep her.
