A little honey might be OK but water it down a bit so it is a little easier for them to eat

I live in Canada as well

Camponotus seem to be a little slower just continue feeding them in the test tube, mainly feed them dry stuff like frozen insects you will have less chance of mold.
when they need Honey/sugar water just give them a little drop and after a few hours take it back out
