How to properly post in the ID section.
So, anyone that frequents the ID center knows the struggle. You are copying and pasting so much, and no matter how many times you tell people how to do it, it is a rarity to see anything embedded. I always see something like this. ID my ant: imgur.com/legitantpictures THEY ALREADY UPLOADED IT TO A H...

Re: Crematogaster Sp. Journal
8/7/17 - We have reached many pupae. I believe I will get workers within a week. The growth of Crematogaster is quite fast, especially when heated. The brood pile is extremely impressive especially since I don't even have nanitics yet. I counted around 44 brood. In under a month. https://cdn.discord...

Re: Crematogaster Sp. Journal
8/3/17 - I have begun heating her and her brood. I have a heating mat, and she has taken a liking to the warmth. She moved her brood onto the heat. It was rather immediate too! I believe we are looking at workers in 2 weeks or so. Currently she has a large egg pile and a few larvae that are decently...

Not an ant, but not a velvet ant either, most likely some other non-winged wasp. Velvet ants are very fuzzy, and that appears smooth and shiny

Re: Crematogaster Sp. Journal
Not much is new. I see wat appear to be tiny larvae, or soon to be larvae, here is a pic. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/310949353663758336/340307369185640448/IMG_10511.JPG?width=524&height=702 She appears to have eaten some eggs, but I hear that is normal with this species, as they lay eg...

Re: Queen ant ID - Lawrence, KS - 7/14/17
I found this today in the median, filled with rocks and ornamental trees, of a large parking lot. It's black, about and about 10 mm. The segments on the gaster are very pronounced. I tried to get a pic of the petiole, but it appears to be either very small or nonexistent. Anyone? https://imgur.com/...

Re: Anybody got any tips on catching queens
Over the summer I have been trying to find queen ants with out much luck. It is my first time ant keeping and I haven't been lucky in finding a queen. I have found a solenopsis invicta but I don't think she is fertile because she isn't taking care of her eggs. Also her eggs don't seem to be develop...
