Re: Are my queens suitable in this setup?

Hope this isn't too late but it'll be hard to transfer them into a formicarium if there are several workers in the slots. It will be hard to just do anything to them in general, as the workers would most likely see it as a hostile action, and you're working with a small medicine container. What are ...

I'm guessing she was probably disturbed or stressed. Were you giving her its deserved privacy?

Re: Ants on the sea

Well, there were definitely not Queen ants, as it's unnatural for thousands of them to be together, or in the sea at all. Also, are you sure they're ants? Because ants have no reason to be in the sea, unless if this is some Norwegian thing I don't know.

Could be some other insect.

Try soaking it into hot water to soften it up. Then put it in, as it was most likely made like that so it wouldn't come off.

Re: Is this a queen ant ??

Ah, it could be a male. Not sure what species they are, but it seems as if its gaster is a bit smaller than it probably should be.

Don't quote me on this one, as it could very well be a queen as well.

Something I did not know! Funny, because ants don't hibernate here, and I never really looked into it a lot.

Re: Getting ants to move out of a bucket

Honestly, if the workers seem restless and they have enough resources, it probably means they are looking for their queen. I disagree there. Ants will often act this way when stressed, not necessarily because of a lack of their queen. So you're saying all ants are the same? Mind you, I said probabl...
