Re: Florida (USA) Nuptial Flights?

It actually rained for about an hour last night at 9:00pm. So, I will be outside for most of today. I will also drive to a nearby garden/park to get away from all the civilization, and perhaps will have better luck. :)

Re: Florida (USA) Nuptial Flights?

Cool thing is, you might find a whole lot one day. I found 8 solenopsis queens today all within a few inches of eachother Maybe I can rub your head and get some of your luck. xD I've been out every day looking under rocks, leaves, and sidewalks in my community. Nothing at all. We also haven't had r...

Re: Florida (USA) Nuptial Flights?

If you can, look under leaf piles on the street against the curb, give found at least 4 queens that way. And they have all been in the last month... I live in So. Cal by the way. Thanks for the tip. So far no luck though. At least I get some good excercise by having these hour-long walks. :D I'll k...

Florida (USA) Nuptial Flights?

Is it too late in the year for nuptial flights? I moved to central florida early this year and recently started wanting to find a queen ant to adopt. Though, I've had no luck in my hunt these past few days. I live at an apartment complex, so there are no thick wooded areas near. I've had no luck loo...

Re: Brood Boosting

It turned out to work just fine. They act as a team just as much as the other ants. :)

Brood Boosting

I was hoping to boost my test tube ant setup(Only 10 workers so far) with some larva I found in my backyard. The ants look exactly the same aside from these ones I found today are a little bit bigger in size. Does this matter when boosting brood?

Re: unbelievable!!

Nothing that brilliant has happened to me! Very lucky you are. :) The closest I've had is, I found my most current queen walking towards me in my garage while I was helping my dad with some projects. :D

Beautiful girl you got there. ;) I personally prefer larger ants. I feel it is easier to see into their little world. 8-)
