Re: New to the forum and the hobby
I have always loved watching ants work but have never had an ant colony with a queen, a few as a kid with just workers for a few months at a time. I want to do a good job of caring for the ants but want to work with what i have as much as i can. I only have a limited budget but have a lot of variou...

Re: I think I caught a Lasius Umbratus queen! UK, Early July
I think that I have caught a Lasius umbaratus queen aswell. what should I do? should I get brood boosting online because there are basically no sources of brood around my area? do they accept workers? It is unlikly but I wish they did. How can you find a lot of workers but not brood? Just move some...

Re: Soleonosis fugax Queen killed workers.

Re: pheidole pallidula not eating
How often do you feed them. Feeding once a week is plenty for that small of a colony. The workers might be full of food so they wont accept anything right now. Also remember ants wont easily let themselves starve to death so if they aren't eating now, they dont need food If they are heated they’ll ...

Re: Changing test tubes
Larvae Alright, light does not work with Camponotus . I think the best course of action would be to turn the test tubes so that they are in a vertical position (with the old one above the new one), then tap the old one until the queen and all the brood falls in. If you can't get the brood out, you ...

Re: Queen identification please - suspect Solenopsis
Thanks for the reply. This was sort of my fear was to have the imported fire ants... especially having found 6 of them. My guess was based on some general image searching and the part that at least the one has produced what seemed a rather large clutch of eggs at this point. Sort of uncertain wheth...
