Lasius Niger is fully claustral, so don't need any assistance. Best to leave the queen to raise her brood in peace.

Sadly I'm not brilliant at ID'S but it looks like a Lasius Niger queen to me.

Black one looks a lot like Lasius Niger. Can't help with the orange queen.

Re: My Queen has flipped upside down
Ants can normally self right. However if your queen doesn't self right after a period of time you can aid her.

Are all the queens dead?! This is why I never risk it.AntsDakota wrote: ↑Sat Jul 28, 2018 12:22 pmThe queens killed each other. I will try to find them another queen during nuptial flight in a month or so. (and this time I will only give them one!)

Re: Queen update from Finlad!
After a month my L. Niger:s first worker hatched. It is very small and I think more will soon come. (She has a lot of pupae!) Also made a setup out of aac/aircrete, tubing and a plastic box. Ill wait until they have 10 workers or more. Cathed a F. Fusca queen yesterday and I put it in test-tube-set...

Re: Nuptial Flights Europe (Eurasia)
This is a message for all UK ant keepers. With the long awaited rain finally arriving this weekend everyone should be vigilant. Personally I'm looking for Myrmica. Plus our grass might finally turn green once again!

Re: Identify these queens
Ants are interesting. I find Myrmica Rubra colonies are actually more common than you think. Just look around for the workers. As for nuptial flights they are normally later than L.Niger's. However I've never seen one as I am almost always away during August and early September:(
