:o :shock: yes 5 test tube, but 3 i one cupboard and 2 in another nice and dark place. in the midel of the week i looked in on the cupboard queens and in the the weekend i can look in on the the dark place :D . That way me and my kids dont have to be so patient and only look once a week :oops: :roll...

I have divided them in 2 groups, so i can check on them twice a week and only disturb any given colony once a week.

Hallo I was wandering what the time frame is from egg is laid til the ants come out on lasius niger. I'm also from Denmark, I have just started i this hobby but i caught 5 queens around the same time on Sjælland north of Copenhagen. They look like yours, I just assumed they were "black garden ants" Lasius niger. but I'm going to listen in here

So after my 3 week holiday i returned home to my ants and looked in on them they all have big clusters of brood and all seams fine it there are still plenty of water i the testtubes, now i'm just hoping the ants will hatch.
Seams i need to register as a gan farmer pretty soon .

you are truly a mad scientist , i like that you manage with what is available. if you put to together with some rubber hose you could refill the water in you set up as it evaporate .

Thanks, i peaked in to the closet this morning and there were no sign of leaking, and no sign of escapes i did not move the tubes so i could only see the ends of the tubes stinking out of the covers. so it seams i will avert making a water rescue

05/07 2018 So last night when i came home i went to pick my son up at a play mate and their garden were swarming with queens, in a matter of 5 minutes we caught 5 queens.
