Re: Camponotus nearcticus
It has been a few months since the nanitics were born, therefore I believe they may be dying off. When I checked them last week, I could only see one worker with the queen. (There could be more; again, the nest provides poor visibility and has some hiding places, yet there’s definitely less than nin...

Re: Is my queen fully claustral?
Hi everyone! New to the forum and am enjoying the wealth of information. I recently caught a queen ant that, after doing research, is a black and red wood ant or horse ant as they are also called. At first I had doubts she was a queen but she recently started laying eggs. The one thing I'm not quit...

Re: Need Identification of Queen Ant found in Philippines, Cebu
I found a Queen Ant last night and can anyone help me identify this? I'm from Philippines currently living in Cebu Province. Length of the ant is 13mm. https://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz65/caesarnoel/64596573_10157345980719031_7227204222746361856_n.jpg https://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz65/c...

Re: Care advise for F. Pratensis

Simply break into a non-parasitic Formica colony and collect some pupae (Adult workers could end up killing the queen). From what I've heard, parasitic Formica can care for ...

Re: Queen ant, hollysprings, mississippi,usa
Thanks for all the info!! The only thing is I live in the middle of nowhere no sidewalks or pavement. I've been queen hunting for about three days nothing yet (well I did see what I thought were some c. Spp. Workers and one dead c. Queen floating in my pool but I don't know) also there are a ton of...

Re: Trap Jaw Ants
Hi Folks, I am interested in starting an ant farm with Trap Jaw Ants and have a couple of questions for you: (1) Is it possible to keep Trap Jaws in a farm? (2) How would I go about buying Trap Jaws in New York State? (3) Are Trap Jaws particularly complicated to keep and if so, do you have any poi...
