Re: A very sad day!
So I can home and was going to feed my little ant family a cricket............ Only to find the entire nest over run with the common black ant (Sugar ants, piss ants, Pharaoh, Pavement, what ever you want to call them). And thru out the nest was parts of my Solenopsis ants spread all over..... incl...

Re: Nylanderia
My very first queen died.... :-( I left her alone for a few days and came back to her knocked out :-( She still had her wings when I found her so I took the chance with fingers crossed .... Welp should be more queens showing up soon! ... hopefully the next ones I find will turn out better. Ant love...

Re: Monomorium Queen?
Check once a week. Ok. That's what I did with my Formica queen. If she got workers within about 4 weeks, how long will these take in the same environment? She did lay eggs within the first day or two though. About a month or two, that's pretty average. Woah, really? That's pretty long saying such b...

Re: Monomorium Queen?
She is a claustral species, so she will be fine until her first workers arrive, if she is indeed mated. The queen is very tiny. If she lays eggs will I be able to see them? I think I'll check on her on Monday or Tuesday. Check once a week. Ok. That's what I did with my Formica queen. If she got wor...

(Nylanderia sp.?) Journal
So, I've found out I have what is most likely a Nylanderia queen. She has wings, but refused to use them, was alone, and just was walking on pavement. Possible signs of fertility? Well, my first check up on her will be tomorrow. She was caught yesterday. If I see any progress, like wings removed, eg...

Re: Spot the mistakes!
Wow, this is actually a UK news page. It reads like an american one... Well, not entirely. An american page would have probably titled something like "YOU DON'T WANNA HAVE THESE KILLERS IN YOUR BACKYARD!" or "PREPARE FOR DOOMSDAY - FLYING FIRE ANTS GONNA KILL US ALL!". No. I don't know where you're...
