Just caught two crematogaster queens today!!! Super exited to get their colonies going!! If you could make a journal of them that would be awesome! I’d love to see how a Crematogaster colony grows! Nvm, I know what it is now. Of course I’ll do it! I’ll tell you what it’s called via private message!

Colony diets
Is it okay to give my ants cooked pieces of chicken or pork for protein? I can’t get feeder incects and was wondering if cooked meat was an option?

Make sure the tubes are not too steep, as they are not good climbers

They should start flying in the next few days. The best time to look is from 11 am to about 3 pm

Honey is usually a favorite. Just be careful to not add too much, because then the workers might drown in it. Use that as a source of sugar and mealworms, crickets and other feeder incects as protein

I agree. I almost gave up today after two hours of looking, but then decided, no, I’m going to find a queen!, and I found TWO crematogastor queens!! You just have to keep searching!

Lasius fly in a few days. Myrmica follow. You could also find Brachymyrmex or Crematogaster if you're lucky. Do you know when the Lasius will fly? Any tips on snagging one? I really appreciate it.
