I was wondering how many worker ants my colony needs to move into a formicarium since they are pretty big. Also thank you for the help I appreciate it. Hi there! Sounds like al...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Hi everyone, Over a week ago. I caught 3 queens, I believe they are camponotus. I found them when I was splitting some firewood and they were hiding under the bark. I knew they were queens because they have wings. So I put them each in a test tube setup. I just check up on them. And they still have...

Re: New to ants and a few question.
1. She should be fine and I would leave them in the jar until about 20 workers before moving them and then move them into a medium size container. 2. If you get mold try to urge the queen to move somewhere else, it will be harder in a jar, but not impossible, or you could add Springtails to clean up...

Small WI Queen ID. Help!
I've had this queen for about two months now and she already has workers. She has a reddish tint to her legs and body. Re: First time keeper with some questions
At about twenty workers, you could maybe move them to a very small other container. Like the AC Test Tube portal.

Re: First time keeper with some questions
If your queen only has seven eggs, you wouldn't need to order the gear for another year or so, they will take a while to get that big.

Is that not a camponatous noveboracensis? That's the first thing I thought of.

Re: Queen wont move test tubes
All you can do is wait, They will move if they feel they need to move.
But, if it appears that the mold is spreading you may have to resort to moving them yourself.

Just adding a little on to Hawkeye's part.
You should try to keep her in a warmer place if you have one, but also in a place that won't get a lot of vibrations. Besides that Hawkeye got the rest.
