Re: How to estimate colony size

Some estimates are better than others. The more you are around them the better yours will be. If you have multiple chambers of about the same size you might be able to count ants in one chamber and multiply by the number of chambers, but it gets increasingly hard the smaller the ants are. I think mo...

Re: What do you use to feed sugar to your ants?

Just wondering what I could use to feed my test tube ants sugar needs. Honey is kind of a pain to put in, wondering if there any other good alternatives. Honey is less of a pain if you smear just a little (less than a drop, I have lost many workers to drowning in honey) on a piece of parchment pape...

Some polygynous genera present in Ontario include-

Brachymyrmex
Formica
Myrmica
Solenopsis
Temnothorax.

These genera are common and easy to find throughout temperate North America.
Where did you get this? Are you just that good?

Welcome to the forum!
http://antwiki.org/wiki/Camponotus has interactive maps, quality pictures, and tons of info. Camponotus spp. and Prenolepis imparis are likely flyers right now. Someone here might be able to help if you have good pictures and measurements.
