anyone in mississauga canada?

I am trying to find some nest for this summer and really don't want to look aimlessly.

If anyone saw near or inside mississauga that'd be great!

Re: Unexplained Crematogaster Cerasi Deaths

Try to vary your food, try giving them fruits(apple, orange, etc.) time to time instead of honey, just be sure that what you're gonna give is one of the food preferences of the ants. Some other protein just like fruitfly or cricket leg just like you said. Try to sterilize the test tube that they're ...

Re: Unexplained Crematogaster Cerasi Deaths

How often do you approach the colony for any reason? -stress may cause some deaths. Did you feed them as soon as they emerge from the cocoon? -ants may or may not have their exoskeleton completely dried, causing them to be injured pretty easily or avoid getting in contact to anything while waiting f...

Some Questions, please answer. ty

I live in Mississauga, Ontario Canada and we have lots of greenery in here. I've caught a few last year but failed to grow them (improper setup, causing some stress). I now have the proper setup but no luck finding them, so I have some few questions that may help me find one. Here are my questions: ...

What's the difference?

I just want to know why 1 is very calm and the other is not. Am i stressing the colony 1 because of all these keyboard clicking and mouse clickings? I have two Formica colonies: 1: 4 Nanitics, 1 queen - very calm, don't eat that often (sugar not that much, protein not at all) 2: 2 Nanitics, 1 queen ...

I'm worried about up coming hibernation months

I have Formica and already have 4 nanitics, since hibernation months are coming I try to give them protein and sugar power that can hold the queen for months. First, I put honey inside the test tubs (dropped via tooth pick) and the queen and the nanitics swarmed around it. Next, since it's been a wh...

Re: Newly found ant colony feeling shy? They're not touching the food.

Ok thanks guys, I will put drop of honey inside the test tube since they won't come out. I'll leave the roach as is except if it starts to harm the colony.

Newly found ant colony feeling shy? They're not touching the food.

2 days ago my formica ant colony finally started. I currently have 3 workers and a quuen. First, I put honey in the pseudo outworld that i made (just a container attached to test tube) and they are not coming out. Next, I tried to put baby roach (very small) and tried to put it in the outworld to se...
