Re: Queens trying to escape
Any ideas for keeping a camponotus pennsylvanicus queen from chewing through her cotton stopper? I have 3 queens and they are all doing the exact same thing. I don't want to pick the test tubes up to move them to a closed container because from what I've read, it could be just because its a new env...

Re: Things Into My Own Hands...
Well They Got Pupae may 5th And Still No Workers It takes Camponotus 3-5 weeks to go to pupae to a worker. If you want to slightly speed this up put the Camponotus in a warmer room. I wouldn't recommend a heating cable because my Camponotus don't like it but you can always experiment with your ants.

Re: ID comfirmation
It's Camponotus , but C. pennsylvanicus is only found in Eastern North America. Actually, C.Pennslvanicus can be found all over North America. Camponotus pennsylvanicus is only found east of the Rocky Mountains. The specimens west of there are likely misidentified Camponotus modoc . Wow, where do y...

Re: C. pennsylvanicus food suggestions
I feed mine sugar water and fruits like oranges. As for meats, giving them spiders is like giving us nice, juicy steak! They just can't resist it! Just don't feed it to them much though. And boil the spiders that you catch and make sure they aren't too big.Fruit flies and cut up meal worms also work.

Re: Blood worms for ants
I feed my fish blood worms that I get from Petco. Although I wouldn't feed them to my ants because they're not as nutritious as cockroaches or meal worms and because they are freeze dried which makes it harder for ant to eat.

It is a massive time-waster to peel covers off the chamber covers 3. screw bolts are terrible and don't hold together 4. hole in out world is difficult to ...
