Camponotus chromaiodes in Idaho? Those guys have never been recorded past the Rockies. This is Camponotus vicinus.

Hi everyone! I just caught a queen any and would appreciate some help with identification. She is a rusty brown color and about 1cm long, not including her antennae. The males start coming out around midday and take to the air with the females sometime in the afternoon.

Looks like Camponotus[/i, probably nearcticus. Better lighting would help a lot though.

A woody forest would be your best bet and that doesn't guarantee anything especially in Canada.
