Re: Rhode Island worker
8mm would be pretty large for this Formica worker. The white stripe probably just means her social stomach is full. We would need more detailed photographs to determine the species, focusing on the front of her head and her gaster. Does this photo help? http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah40/Aqua...

Rhode Island worker
Found this worker and would like an identification please. Also you can't see it in the pictures but there is a clear white strip around the gaster if you hold her up to the light. About 8mm

Re: One queen really need help identifying her plz
I would say prenolepis imparis based on description, but would need pictures and measurements to be sure.

Does anyone know of any unique ant species besides prenolepis imparis that live near or in Rhode Island?

Brownish black glossy queen ant
Today in Rehoboth, Massachusetts a found 3 dark, brownish queen ants. They where some of the smallest queen ants I have ever seen and we're wingless. Sorry I don't have pictures and I can understand if you can't identify.

Re: Queen dying?
She may be infertile, however you won't know for sure until she lays eggs.
Another thing is she could be stressed out and is eating her eggs.
