Recently caught 3 lasius umbratus queens and would just like to know how to care for them and start a colony.

What size test tubes should I buy?

I am dealing with a similar issue in a way and what I would do is put their tube in a small tupperware container next to another test tube setup that is wrapped in paper to make it darker. They might. It's still pretty early in their founding stages -- they could probably even start over. I would set them up with a new test tube, though. You can leave the tubes mouth-to-mouth in an escape-proofed container. Don't force them to move or anything.
