Re: Brood process of Dorymyrmex Insanus

I have a Dorymyrmex Insanus queen, when I received her I put in the test tube a drop of honey-water, and instantly put a red cellophane around the test tube, and put it in my night table. (It's the quietest point in my house). Three days before of today, I checked on my queen, and she has got larva...

Re: My queen ant journal

So after some research I found many articles about Oleic Acid, the ant death pheromone. The issue is no one really knows the specifics of when and how it's released. There have been study's that show Oleic Acid is released two days after when an ant dies of natural causes, but when an ant is killed ...

Re: Tetramorium ant diet questions

Update: I gave both colonies new AntsCanada equipment and 1 part sugar, three parts water sugarwater test tubes. Hopefully they will have more luck at producing workers than the old tubes. When there is enough workers I will probably buy some sort of insect feeder, probably mealworms. Tetremorium a...

Re: Unsure about ant growth

(I feel like a broken record every time I post) I caught a carpenter queen on March 31st this year. She has 5 workers, and has for the whole time I have had her. I am pretty sure some more should exist by now. The only brood I have seen have been small and seem to have dwindled. Should I be worried...

Re: Ant queen acting strange

Hello, I found this Crematogaster scutellaris queen a week ago, and for the past week she's been on the cotton that blocks the entrance, is there too much space in the test tube? Or is it something else? https://imgur.com/a/6fRdO1s Just a heads up. Crematogaster is notorious for being sensitive to ...
