Re: 3D printed?

It could be printed as 3D printers can make "fabric" from hair thin lines, but it would be fragile I think so it's better to use some flexible pre made plastic mesh like the anti-mosquito one for example

Re: what to feed a semi-c. queen

Small invertebrates like Drosophila are perfect for semi-claustral queens. If you have trouble finding them in your area, you could always make food for them (most kinds of flour or mashed root vegetable, mixed with vinegar) and wait for the flies to come to you. Winged flies aren't as convenient, ...

An Ectomomyrmex astutus with 2 developed larvae and a Myrmica that I have no further info of as for now but they are mostly semi so I'm feeding her just to make sure Ectomomyrmex is living in her outworld terrarium currently not connected to the huge ytong nest (1k+ worker capacity) because they are...

Re: what to feed a semi-c. queen

Yes most likely, I feed my 2 semi queens cricket/mealworm parts, fruit flies, some random citrus fruit, honeywater and they are doing fine as far as I can tell

Re: solenopsis invicta queens eggs not growing

Probably the eggs won't hatch without care and also without a queen a colony can not be sustained :(

Re: Will GMO affect my ants?

As far as my knowledge goes GMO crops are usually treated with the BT protein ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacillus_thuringiensis ), you can do a little research on it but I fear it does affect ants as well

Re: is a Fish tank better or a plastic container and is soil better

You'll have hard time attaching the glass tank to anything else because for plastic you just drill a hole whenever

And it's said it's more natural to have the ants dig in soil than having them in a formicarium but they will also be harder to study
