Re: Outworld Plants
Unless you have a fully natural setup, you shouldn't use real plants. The only exception might be air plants ( Tillandsia ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tillandsia . The problem is that you don't want to add any moisture to your outworld, lest the ants move into it. I've heard of some people using ...

Re: What the heck is this?
Sounds about right. Thanks for the help. Funny thing is, it is so small that I couldn't even see the eyes or antennae until I got home and took some macro shots. I could have sworn I had some tiny queen until I took the pics, then I was like... "Oh."

Almost certainly a type of Pogonomyrmex. Sorry, but I can't ascertain the species. Most common species around here are P. Occidentalis, P. Barbatus, and P. Rugosus. Congratulations, and you are going to want some seeds and nuts for them.

Need some better, closer pics to properly identify. Maybe some type of Pogonomyrmex? Really hard to tell.

What the heck is this?
This tiny little thing flew onto me this morning, so I brought it home. It is only about 3mm long, very small. Is this a type of wasp? A male ant? If so, what type of species is this? The eyes are enormous. Found in CO. Thanks for any help. http://i.imgur.com/0srj2s5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OxJOEAn.j...

Re: How to release a colony?
Yeah, I suppose that is how I will have to do it. I would really like to release them in a park, but seeing how it probably takes several hours that wouldn't work. Release them next to a large rock or something in your yard, and you can continue to observe them into the future. I think it would be ...

I'm pretty terrible at is, but until someone more knowledgeable than me comes by, I'm going to guess Formica sp.
