I agree, they won’t need sand, if you really wanted to add sand then attach a outworld with sand in it and they will choose to bring in the sand if they need help with hydration control.

Recently I caught a fly so I killed it and fed it to my queen via outworld and I checked on her the next day without opening the nest and the fly was gone.

Maybe try getting a test tube portal from AntsCanada and just seal the other entrances with cotton, or you could expose 1/4 of the test tube to light where the eggs are and the eggs should be moved back by the queen and or workers.

I would not use AntsCanada’s plug because some ants are small enough to fit through them, I would just plug the extra entrances with cotton.
