Re: Type of water to give my ants
Distilled water is created when water is evaporated to leave all the chemical ions which where dissolved, the pure water vapour is then condensed to give a solution of pure water, this reaction is called distillation, hence why the water produced is called distilled water. No chemicals are added dur...

It's hard to tell from that picture...
I'm not too sure but maybe I can point you in the right direction and say, it looks like a Manica sp. Or Myrmica sp.

Re: Hibernation Help
SO... My whole house stays too warm for 'proper' hibernation temps of 40-50 degrees F. My garage will occasionally drop below 30 F when its cold out. There definitely isn't room in the fridge and its only a couple degrees above freezing anyway. What do I do because from what I know they definitely ...

Re: Lasius Niger Queen and 3 workers just gave up?

Re: Beginner with Tetramorium Caespitum e
I just bought my son a queen and 15 workers. They are in a test tube set up. The water under the cotton ball is almost gone. I tried putting drops of water on the cotton ball, but a few drowned. I have tried to get them to move into another test tube by tapping them together. A few escaped, but I w...

Re: Workers fetch water?
So i've just moved my lasius niger colony (very small) test tube setup to my parents garage where it's a nice temperature for hibernation. A little late i know but i'm hoping it'll be fine. My question is this: Will worker ants collect water and bring it to the queen? My setup is a test tube setup,...
