Usually they would at least makes moves toward the exit if they’re hungry is what I’ve heard. I doubt they realize how big their space is if they haven’t left the tube. I’m sure that if they’re really hungry they’ll find what they’re looking for.

Hmm... Maybe I could add cotton to “reduce space”. I put a bit of beetle on the cotton ramp to their tube. Hopefully that entices them out and they notice the other beetle bit and honey.

Idle Tetramorium Colony
I have a Tetramorium Immigrans queen with 4 workers. I attached their tube into a beta fish tub thing, put a small hole in the cotton, a cotton ramp up to their tube, a drop of honey, and a crushed beetle. They seem inactive. I also understand they could climb the corners, but would they be able to get past a PTFE barrier using the corners?
