Another place to look is under stones but, it isnt the most common place to find them. Best places are stumps or rotting logs.

Hi All Jack's Lasius Niger Queen is due to come out of hibernation this week, weather is warming up and she is starting to get active. I was hoping with the rain today in Kentucky, I would be able to find some queens. Though after walking around for 30 minutes I couldn't even find a worker. I'm figuring it probably cooled off to much from the rain for any to be out. I live and louisville and I have only see one ant so far this year
