Did you put a straw through the cotton of the test tube? Or just open it right up? My camponotus are at about the same stage, they come out to forage and then block the straw with balled up cotton I put in.

Shes around 9-10 mm, caught august 14 in eastern Ontario. I have 3 just like this, cant tell if they're black or dark red
