Ottawa as well
I have 10 queens in various stages of founding and they're all awake and hungry.
2x Camponotus novaeboracensis
3x Formica fusa (very sensitive to light)
2x tetrimorium e. I think
And 3x small black queens I caught at the end of the season last year. No I'd yet

Collecting queens at or near the nest isn't advised, better chance of finding a mated queen a short distance away.
Usually find them on the edge of sidewalks and curbs.

I actually don't have that, there "outworld" is an AC test tube portal I would suggest covering their test tube completely, don't let any light in, stop checking on them inside the test tube. Block the test tube with cotton and put a straw through so the worker can forage. They might be stressed ou...
