Well how about non hibernation temperature?

Lets say spring comes around, or you wish to end your ants hibernation early. What is the optimal room temperature for ants to be happy running around in their outworld thinking its time to ditch hibernation? I have a 15watt heating cable attached to their hybrid nest, if i turn it on im sure the fo...

Re: Hibernation Temperature

I've got my tetramorium colony with 30-40 workers in their test tube i placed inside their outworld here in my room with me. I'm in Vancouver which is temperate rainforest biome so its cold outside right now and they are hibernating even though they are here in 20-22 celsius according to the thermom...

Suspicious egg placement

Tetramorium test tube setup with probably 20 workers, up till now the eggs/pupa/larva have always been right next to the water cotton, maybe shuffled around a bit when a giant cricket leg suddenly appears, but since the last time i looked a few days ago, they have spread 4 of the pupa/larve (dunno w...

Re: Outworld grout question

Another question, i have two kinds of caulking here, waterproof 100% silicone, and 'kwik seal kitchen & bath adhesive caulk'.

Is at least one of these safe to use for attaching tubes and whatnot to the outworld and maybe glueing down the observation glass top of the hybrid nest?

Re: Can Vaseline kill nanitics?

I don't know much but my tiny little tetramoriums dont even get stuck in the honey when i smear it inside their test tube, so i wouldn't be afraid of that. I guess just make sure to drag your honey dispensing utensil some short distance so its not in one super puddle

Re: Queen's 2nd meal (protein right?)

status update: i went to petsmart indeed and got freeze-dried crickets, tossed a leg into my 2 test tubes and the first one with 18 workers was quite a hit, they all zerged it and brought it into the brood section, second test tube with 6 workers i accidentally placed it in the honey and the 2 they ...
