Queen found Jun 1 ID please

Sorry about the blurry pictures, have not quite gotten the hang of taking macro pictures. Caught two more queens like the three that died, still thinking they may be males. If anyone has a clue what they are please let me know. It is the last series of pictures posted.

Personally do not see the point. If it were done for scientific purposes then maybe. The ones I saw were sold as art though. They were casting fire ant nests that are not native and invasive, do not have a problem with them killing the ants. It is probably more humane than baits or poisons. Just see...

Still not positive they were queens, still have 4 fire ant queens, and 2 different Camponotos queens so definitely still in the hobby, hoping to get a few more Campo queend.

Well I checked on thsee today and all of them are deceased :(. Oh well time to clean out those test tubes and find replacements.

That is the hardest part, I have problems keeping myself from looking at them. Longest I have been able to go without checking is 3 days. Hopefully it gets easier.

Wow! An article I just read stated that if you cut them in half the head would fight the tail end of the ant for 30 minutes. That is some determination.

Very interesting, not sure what it is. Looks similar to wasp eggs that I have seen on certain caterpillars. Really no clue other than that though.

Now that she has calmed down a bit and shed her wings was able to get a more accurate measurement, looks like she is actually around 15 mm.
