Re: Need Queen and and workers ID, from Malaysia
Good job on the ant colony! Hope your colony continues growing. For some reason, my Camponotus queen will always stop laying eggs after the nanitic batch of ants. They always go very well but then they will die out. Can somebody tell me why this is the case? Will be thankful for any help you guys c...

Re: Ant ID
Yes, they have a regular ant diet.RubyAntKeeper77 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 8:28 amThank you.
Is it the normal diet for ants?
How long is the stage till nanitics?
Takes 1 month, their pupae don't have cocoons so if yours does it's probably something else so keep this in mind.

You can bring them back to your house as long as they are still in the same state or province.

Just a regular test tube setup, they are fully-claustral.RubyAntKeeper77 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 10:55 pmCan I get some more details?
Like how to keep them?
Do they like test tube basic setups or a semi clausteral setup?

Re: Another! My queen ant journal
Upon further investigation it seems there was some sort of white mold which spread on the glass of the tt and possibly could be the reason of their death. I released the 5 workers who were still alive. There was some brood but it's not worth saving as it could also be infected and dead. Guess it's ...

Can't quite tell but she could be Liometopum occidentale, for a confermation you can look at the brood, L. occidentale are known for raising a large number of nanitics, if yours don't it's likely they're Formica. The workers also have orange thoraxes.

Re: Welcome back to the Camponotus Crew! (New topic, old one got too long)
I found a camponotus pennslyvannica queen, but she looked badly injured and her back legs don't work. I decided to put her in a test tube because I know she would surely die in the wild. I don't know if it would be worth it to keep her, or if she even has a chance of survival. :( There's still a ve...

Re: Crematogaster queen?
She's a parasitic Lasius queen, probably Lasius latipes.

That's a parasitic bee, not even an ant.
