Re: Labor Day Lexington Ky 4:30pm
I thought I meant I needed to put stuff in there from time again for her to feed. I read that they like small space since they are usually in wood.

Re: Labor Day Lexington Ky 4:30pm
I doubt putting cotton fibers in will help. You should prepare another test tube with lots of loosely-packed cotton after the bung, if you do not have access to coconut fiber. I found some stuffing from a sit cushion that was falling apart. I put her into a new test tube and she was on the plug and...

Re: Labor Day Lexington Ky 4:30pm
Ponera pennsylvanica , which is semi-claustral, FYI. Does it look like a queen? It is so much smaller than the one a found recently. Looks like a queen. Do you see wing scars? This is a normal length for Ponera . Had wings when I first got her. What can I use other than coconut fiber? Small pieces ...

Labor Day Lexington Ky 4:30pm
Had wings at one time. About 3mm. Hard to take a picture because of the glare of the test tube.

Re: Ohio-Kentucky Sightings
I just ate my words and my heart about 30 minutes ago. Who should I see crawling on the pavement but a queen, size and color indicating none other than the Lasius neoniger. And here I am with another 5 hours on my shift and nothing to put her in. So now she is gone. But atleast you know what one lo...

Thank you. Have you had experience with a trapped queen in water and if they are usual fertile or no?Batspiderfish wrote:Lasius neoniger.

Re: Ohio-Kentucky Sightings
Don't worry I had the same problem. I happen to get really lucky to find one. Seems like the more you go hunt, research the ants around you and learn when they are in flight the better luck you will have.dinoman9877 wrote:How are you people finding these when everywhere I look is just workers?

Re: Ohio-Kentucky Sightings

I am 95% sure since its the biggest I have found, has wings and looks like nothing I thought was a queen before. I would post p...

Came back from vacation and found a bunch of winged ants dead in my child's water fountain toy. Happen to dump out a sand shovel and this ant came running out from the water. Hard to measure the ant won't sit still but about 6mm. Let me know if more picture are needed or any other information. https...
