Re: When is the new hybrid nest coming out?
So the new nests are going to be 8 x 8 and the old ones discontinued. Just curious. If you raise a colony to say 25-50 workers as recommended, will the new 8 x 8 nest be ok for this size or will you have to wait longer until they are even bigger say 75-100 workers to prevent them from having too mu...

Founding Colonies & Hibernation
Ok I know Hibernation has been thrown around a lot lately, maybe cause we're in the mid year and noobs like me :D are starting to collect and I haven't seen anything on Hibernation for Founding Colonies with newly caught queens laying their first eggs. Location: Gilbert Az Current Temps where ants a...

Re: Tetra Won't Leave Test Tube
I had this happen recently with a new small colony of mine. They only stayed in the tub. About 15 workers. I connect it to a test tube portal but never saw them come out. I left a cricket in there and eventually they came out. Like someone said earlier, they'll come out when they need to. Just gotta...

Re: First eggs up to first formicarium.
I recently started collecting my first queens and what not as well and awaiting eggs. I did order a test tube portal which is $15 usd + $6-7 usd for shipping. After receiving it, I figured I could make my own items. What I did was go to The Container Store (Not sure if you have one where you're loca...

Re: The most painful part of ant keeping
I caught like 20 potential queens and check once in the last week and saw 4 of them had eggs. These are the first I've ever caught and it so painful to not want to check on them!!! So right now I'm coming up on week 2 and trying to not look at the them until the end of aug. Can't wait!!

Re: A few questions about making a home-made grout outworld
I recently made my first outworlds using grout and items from a craft store. It was real fun to make and easy to do. I used grout from home depot which came in a box ($10). I cut open the top of the bag within the box enough to get a scooper in. The scoop I used looks like a standard scoop, kinda li...

Re: Pre-Killed Bugs
Just curious if you can freeze leftovers. Say I have a worm and cut it in half to feed a founding colony in a tube setup, can i freeze the other half? Will it still be good for the next feeding?
