Use http://antmaps.org to help you out. It's not 100% and it does not seem to be county specific just country.
Ah that suits me fine. I will give them to your mam so.
I will add a new photo to the Google drive I previously shared.

Re: New Ant Keeper from Ireland.
What ever suits them suits me to be honest. The colony has actually grown since the picture I shared. All pupae have opened up and the test tube is now wild with ants. I have yet to go to the national park so I have not seen the ants in person. You can get a pdf file of the ants from Killarney natio...

Re: prenolepis imparis nuptial flight - Iowa
I am not familiar with the species but it could be down to the time of day? I missed tetramorium caespitum last year to later find out they would have their flight at the crack of dawn or just shortly after. Considering that was just after 5am where I am from I was out cold for the whole thing since...

Re: New Ant Keeper from Ireland.
Oh and if your Lasius colonies have workers and no queens just make them comfortable until their time comes. Feed them honeys and fruits if you have them handy.

You already have it now and although the yes you should not have done it it is too late now and the best thing you can do is look after them and give them a good life. My only point would be to make sure they do not escape ...

Re: New Ant Keeper from Ireland.
Okay well I hate to be a pain and believe me when I say this, someone if not many are going to have a mild go for this one but your first and possibly biggest mistake was importing ants. This site is a strong believer in do not important ants as it posses risks to the ecosystem and to the ants them ...

Re: New Ant Keeper from Ireland.
Okay so I take it by the months you have these you bought them? If these were shipped across the country that could have caused some damage to the brood, if they where hibernated this could also account for the brood not developing as it's highly possible the brood did not survive the winter months....

Re: New Queen Messor Barbarus help
First prepare a new and fresh test tube. After that attach it to the old one (I usually use a bit of tape to hold them together). This works but personally I find you have to check on them more often to make sure they do not suffocate. This is purely my personal preference but I use rubber tubing a...
