They still have not moved into their tube. It's sunday and this started on Thursday.
My only idea at this point is to put an LED light above them so that the feel exposed and then move into the covered test tube. Does this sound like a good idea or is there something else I can do? Thanks!

Re: Massachusetts Flight Sightings
I have found a lot more Campo queens, all with wings, but most of them broke off their wings. I think it's all the extreme heat that's bringing them out, though I think they fly in the evening or early morning because I did not see them fly. I had field day, so I found one queen hiding in the shade ...

Re: Ants Abandoning Test Tube
The ants are still not in their test tubes
I don't know why, they are still just hanging in the outworld, all three of them, with the 2 pupae.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Thanks!
Yah I guess the best thing to do is just to wait, but I wanted to see any input or ideas.
Also, I just found two queens.....Both had wings but weren't flying.

Ants Abandoning Test Tube
So, I have a weird problem, not sure it's really that important, but wanted some advice anyways. So, last year, I caught a Formica Subsericea Queen, which hatched 3 workers immediately before hibernation. I have been keeping them in the test tube and also feeding them in there, until recently realiz...

Re: Massachusetts Flight Sightings
This Spring I caught 5 queens that I have not yet ID'd, but so far they have laid over 20 eggs. It's actually amazing seeing them all clustered together. I'm hoping they will grow fast and I think at the end of May or mid June that they will hatch into many workers to start the colony. Their eggs ar...

Re: ooper's Tetramorium sp. E colony -- not Monomorium minimum (#6)
Discovered today, with the help and input of Canadiananter and Batspiderfish, that this colony is in fact Tetramorium sp. E rather than Monomorium minimum . Thanks guys! Wow, that's pretty funny that you raised a colony the whole time thinking it was tetramorium! :D Hope you have luck with other co...

Re: Massachusetts Flight Sightings
Hey I found the tiniest queen yesterday, it was really warm. It is the size of a tetramorium worker but the color of a lasius neoniger or flavus queen. There is no way I will be able to get an accurate picture though. :D By the way, haven't posted in awhile because of school and homework and other t...

Re: Caught 9/2/2016 Boston Outskirts (Crematogaster???)
These are actually all Lasius social parasites. Lasius umbratus , by the looks of it. The one with the shiny head could possibly be Lasius claviger , or else just something the camera picked up. I wrote a guide about keeping these ants, but the maximum text limitations on this forum forced me to po...
