It usually happens after a rain storm. Many wonder why that is but I think its because the rain softens that ground up allowing the queen to dig her new home after mating. Just a thought though.

Welcome to you both! Hamsters? Man when I was a kid (I'm 47 now) we had 2 of them one was very cool and the other was the meanest thing with 4 legs! LOL I got bit so many times trying to pet him! LOL
