Re: Merge?

Here is what Mikey's book says:
Queen: In captivity, pleometrotic and possibly polygynous via oligogyny, however safest and best kept singly. Fully claustral.

Re: Optimal Temperature for Fast Growth

Mikey's book says 20 to 27 degrees, so I think that 25 to 27 is optimal.

If you want to keep her and don't have any experience keeping ants, I would recommend watching the tutorials from AntsCanada on youtube.

Re: Non-Bug Protein Sources?

I would not recommend feeding bugs from out doors. It could prove fatal for your colony. A founding colony definitely should have insects as it's main protein. After they have a larger amount of workers you can bounce between insects, meats, egg, dog food, ect. But make sure that they are still get...

Re: When Should I Move Them?

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea! I think they might just move the brood further in to protect it from what they see as an invasion of their nest.

Re: Test Tube Diameter

Re: First eggs up to first formicarium.

Try looking at all of the AntsCanada videos, some of them explain how to make your own formicarium. Also, it varies a lot when your queen will lay her first eggs, it will depend on how stressed she is and the room temperature. And also whether she is fertilized or not, of course! But that you can't ...
