Re: Lonely Ant Queen
I don’t see any reason why she can’t start again if you're providing sugar and protein. This happened to my founding Camponotus Turkastanus colony; she had 4 workers and they all died (I accidentally squished them), but she still had larvae. She just had a worker born the other day. She lost all he...

Lonely Ant Queen
My two pheidole queens started fighting so I separated them into their own test tubes. All the workers died so the queens are by themselves. Do you think they'll still survive on their own, with me providing food.

Ants haven't been foraging!!!!
My ants haven't been foraging recently. Whatever food I leave in the outworld becomes untouched. As a result, the colony started dying because of their lack of food. Colony had about 10 workers. Out world is about a 1 x 1 Inches glass box connected to their test tube. Help please

Pheidole food?
What is a good source of protein for a small starting Pheidole colony, lets say about 2-5 workers. I fed them small dead spiders that they would gladly take and sometimes they would hunt and consume springtails, but the springtails would always stress the queen. They haven't accepted anything else. ...

Re: Pheidole are finally eating.
My Pheidole was just starting, so I had about 10 workers, they would accept small dead spiders and I would throw in some springtails and they would actually hunt them. Recently they haven't been accepting anything else. They would sometimes take crushed bits of peanuts and drink honey. Now their num...

Re: Good ant protein?
Do I give it to them Alive or dead. Also I tried springtails and I noticed my pheidole would actually hunt them down and consume em. However some springtails would linger around and disturb the queen which stresses her out.TheRealAntMan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 5:19 pmSoft-bodied Drosophila flies would be easy for a young colony.

queen ant rivals
So I put multiple queens together in a single test tube and the colony was going good, it reached up to 15 worker ants before the colony started dwindling down. 4 queens have died and im assuming the worker ants killed them off or they were fighting the other queen ants. Now my colony has a total of...
