He does, thats why i used it. But i will never touch the stuff again for my ants. Caused death in multiple colonies, and it was organic.

THAT is unusual Please don't swear on this forum, which is supposed to be a "clean" environment. Thanks Haha. Was baffled on what you cons...

Re: Carpenter ant queen in test tube.
Dont stress about it. Some ants just dont want to lay eggs and take a while. It is most likely too late now, but i have found giving the queen a small drop of honey and a small bit of protien can encourage her to lay. Makes them full so they feel more comfortable. ex "Oh this place has food dropping...

Re: Honey Replacements
I generally just leave them there. Change it out once a month or so. However the ants do like fresh honey ALOT more than hard honey. so the honey drop will prevent them from starving, but once in a while i add a small drop of maple syrup to give them something easy to eat. they enjoy it.

I have had 4 querns with wings succes...

Re: Pre-hibernation test tube hydration issues
First off, how full did you fill the test tube with water? i have had some where no air gets in the, but the cotton is getting sucked toward the end as the water is drank. So the water resivoir gets smaller but no air is in there. This has happened to quite a few of my setups. As far as the slowly g...

Re: ant nest HELP
Just keep feeding them as normal, they will eat as needed. its highly likely they are eating a small amount at night, just not enough to be noticable.
