Re: Cotton looks dry

Thank you for your advice and I think I might try attaching a new test tube to the existing one and see what happens.

Re: Cotton looks dry

I didn't set the test tube up. I'm new to ant keeping and got the queen without eggs online, she has lots of eggs in there now at different stages. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to put some of the protein jelly I bought online on a piece of foil in the test tube, would that give her water as wel...

My worry is that to me the cotton wool nearest the queen and eggs looks very dry and in the last 2 weeks the water hasn't evaporated at all, what should I do? Many thank...

Many thanks for the advice and I will take that on board. Maybe I will use some gravel instead.

Re: Hello from east England.

It was from ant kit uk. I would never purchase an ant from another country due to the eco system so that's why I chose Lasus niger and any future ants I would purchase would be ants native to the uk.

Re: Sand?

Thank you for your help and info, I will get some air plants and a small rock to place in the out world. Whenever I see ant nests in the pavement there is always sand at the entrance and I will make sure it's dry I will place a water/cotton wool test tube in there for their water but it will be a wh...

Re: Hello from east England.

Hi, I bought a few bits of equipment online and with my purchase I got to choose a free queen ant, I read that Lasus niger is the perfect beginner ant so that's what I chose.
