Re: Test tube cleaning

use a bbq skewer but break it so the jagged end is going into the tube. twist to remove. works great. after that is removed, i soak it in soapy water then use a new cotton ball, push it to the bottom of the tube and then use the bbq skewer again to get it out. this cleans the tube.

I tried to provide them water using a soaked cotton ball but it dries up really quickly. Do I need to provide them with water in the outworld or is ...

Re: Help on feeding ants in a test tube!

Here is what I suggest you do. Use a one inch section of drinking straw wedged between the side of the tube and the exit cotton to act as a tunnel for your colony. Then place the whole tube in a tupperware container with a barrier. Then feed them in the outworld.

Re: Feed your queens!!

Newbies: Please Note Most ant keepers (including myself) disagree with this method. Ant queens are designed to survive, and thrive without food during the founding stages. It's how their bodies naturally work. No stress is crucial to proper development. They simply aren't designed to not mind having...

Re: Ant Barrier

I have found that my tetramorium can easily cross over baby powder plus rubbing alcohol. However, they cannot cross over dry baby powder applied thinly with a dry cotton ball.

Re: Idaho Ant Keepers!

Hello, I'm SebrightLover. I'm currently awaiting nuptial flights as I decided to look into ant keeping right as the summer ended (my luck in a nutshell) I live in the Boise area and I raise chickens a lot (hence the name, a Sebright is my favorite breed of chickens, even though I've only ones two h...
