Re: Trachymymex sp. Journal

How many mm in length is the queen? When I've seen nuptial flights happening with this species, there are tiny black males and the female alates are really small, only a little larger than the largest workers. The males look like their body is smaller than the workers also. A couple days ago I disc...

Re: Nanitics stopped foraging

I wouldn't worry as long as you know you didn't do anything to upset them like accidentally shake them or something of that nature. My Camponotus right now are doing the same thing except they have four workers and access to nectar. I do think they drink the nectar every so often though. (The queen ...

Re: Trachymymex sp. Journal

Wow that's awesome!!! Where did u get that awesome nest? I got the nest from a really cool guy who owns the byFormica forums (dspdrew), he designed it for his Acromyrmex sp. and I'm just using the same nest design with the other two chambers closed off for now until they need the space. Wow...

Trachymymex sp. Journal

I should have posted this when I first got the queen but I wasn't sure if she was going to live or not because fungus growers don't always do well in captivity, but this one seems to be doing okay. :) I'll post some picture below but right now she has two workers and the fungus is growing very slowl...

Re: Monomorium sp. views

Nice work, I HATE Monomorium sp. I have some that climb up and down a tree in my back yard and there is no way to see if they live up the tree or in the ground, it's just a constant trail of them. Then when I captured 2 Monomorium minimum queens the workers were escape artist. It was my first colony...

Re: C.Castaneus Update...

I've had my Camponotus castaneus for three months and she has six workers and I have fed her nothing but sweet liquids since the workers arrived. I just put her test tube in a small aquarium with a fluon insect barrier at the top about two hours ago. I put more sweet liquid in there but I plan on gi...

Re: Other photo hosting web sites?

Thanks, I will try it :D I use Photobucket the most, but I also use Imgur, Gyazo (I have Gyazo Pro so my images don't expire), and Google drive. Gyazo is really different though. It allows you to take screen shots of a selected area of your screen or upload photos. There's also a mobile app that al...
