Re: New Ant Queen Introduction

Its up to you if you want to move them. Personally at this point I would not risk it since you have been very successful so far.

Formicarium Suggestions?

So I am looking for a decent size formicarium for my Prenolepis imparis or Camponotus nearcticus colony and I am just wondering if anyone has any good recommendations. My only requirements is that it will ship to USA and it is a good price. If not what do you think about these: https://www.aliexpres...

Re: Pill Bugs

I fed a pill bug to my Myrmica queen and she kind of ate it, but it wasn't her favorite. Also when I pre-killed the pill bug i noticed it was mostly just shell and not a lot of guts. Does your queen have nanatics or workers? If not you do not need to feed her because Camponotus are fully claustral.

Re: New Ant Queen Introduction

It is possible that they will join the other queens colony. However their is always the risk they won't and will fight. If you don't plan on taking this risk you can at least save the brood with a moist q-tip and put them with the other colony. Are there any warning-signs other than pure fighting? ...

Re: Queen ID please

pictures are very nice :) bare with me here as I am new at trying to ID ants but I would say she is Camponotus cf sp But we shall see what the other more experienced ant keepers say. Good find! This is not Camponotus because their is a postpetiole. This is Tetramorium E. sp. Congrats on the catch!
