Re: Tiny golden ant ID help

Yeah, I figured you'd need better photos. I'm going to try to lure some out with a test tube of water once my order arrives. Maybe I'll get some better pictures then.

Re: Ant Queen ID Okinawa

wow. That's a pretty diverse genus. Is there anything on the queen herself that would help narrow it down, or should I just wait for the workers to show up and then photograph them?

Or is the whole genus pretty similar in how to care for them?

Re: TINY golden ants!

Im not sure at all if this is the ant, but to me it seems like you are describing Monomorium pharaonis. Im not super sure, but small golden ants kinda made me think about that. I would look into it. :D I considered monomorium pharaonis because they are said to be the smallest ants, but they have an...

Heating Cable?

In all of Mikey's videos on the AntsCanada youtube channel he mentions using a heating cable to keep a formicarium or a test tube set up at a good temperature. I am unfamiliar with heating cables. What are they, and can someone recommend a good one to use for a test tube or for a formicarium?

Re: What type of queen ant?

Yes that's a queen (you can see the wing scars) but I don't have enough knowledge to identify the species. Maybe someone else will know.

Re: Tetramorium Nupital Flight

Oh? I was wrong. Yay, I can learn about a new species now. This is exciting. I assumed because they loved the concrete so much and since they were so small that they would be tetramorium. My favorite thing about the colony I watch is that they have their nest halfway up a concrete wall, and regularl...
