Re: Adopting wild ants.

My work did a big clean up the first day on my vacation so I'm worried they will be gone when I get back to work.

Re: I don't think she's fert :(

This was the hardest thing I had to do today. She would not go into the tube. She even almost got away. I hope she likes her new home. I have it on a slight incline so if the cotton ball does leak she won't be flooded and die. Image

Re: I don't think she's fert :(

This is my test tube I just made up and I think I could trust it with my queen. I'm going to keep an eye on it over the last 4 hours of my shift then go home and make one up for her.Image

Re: I don't think she's fert :(

My problem is the opening is smaller than the rest of the tube. I'm going to do up a test test tube again tonight. Is it ok if I store it on a incline to prevent flooding?

Re: I don't think she's fert :(

I don't really check up on her much just to add water about once a week. And I don't have AC so the room is never below 25c so always above 72F. I will try a test tube setup I'm just worried it will leak and she will die as I did up a few test test tubes and all leaked or absorbed all the water :/

Re: Adopting wild ants.

Update: great night for ant watching. They are currently breaking down 4 bugs and a gummy Bear I have them yesterday. I'm surprised to see them traveling so far for food. They have a moth down about 10 feet away of the colony entrance.

Adopting wild ants.

So I have a colony of tiny pavement ants aka tetramorium living under my guard house at work. Their colony has picked the perfect place as where they enter and exit has zero foot traffic and has alot of bugs as it's below a spot light.i was very excited to discover them.
