Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

I checked on my crematogaster queen and I can see ONE large pupa about the size of a full size worker, I could even make out the shape of it clearly, gaster and all... but it's all white like the brood normally is. Poor queen was running around 'cause the drawer got stuck and jerked a little, so hop...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Understandable, Hawkeye. Sounds like you have your plate and another plate full on top of it. Glad you're having fun with it though! I did some culinary training in college, not too far from my BA but that went pfft. As far as ants, I found a red plastic "party favor" bag, set of ten, that should wo...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

so we still have those 2 pupa they look like they will be done any day now, the larva had pupated and has just started to go off white like the others and then out of the blue yesterday we have a small clutch of eggs that's what I'm thinking my queen has started to do - focus on the three or four l...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hopefully, this was very helpful. Let me know. It was, actually, thank you! I'm figuring the few eggs I saved she is keeping as "hand picked by the keeper" and raising the larvae currently, so that kinda makes sense in all of what you say. A second small peek today (the flashlight didn't work long ...

Crematogaster Laeviuscula has few pupa no eggs

So, I've had this queen since Sept. 5th. She's eaten her entire egg batch twice, both times because I think I moved her, not because I was checking her too often (though that may not have helped). This latest time, her water was nearly out and I knew with her brood still mostly eggs she wouldn't las...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

so, I was insanely curious and had to peek - it's been a week and a half. I peeked at my Crematogaster Laeviscula queen for about 15 seconds with light and closed the drawer once she moved a little to be sure she was alive. I -think- she has three larvae (probably the same few eggs I saved from the ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

hmm been noticing a bit of a theme with people, does no one use red in there set-up's ? I want to but when I noticed very low water and decided to switch over my cremato queen, I had no red to wrap around the tube. I was planning on it for their tube/portal setup when they get to that point, for th...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

I think you should, like you said, leave her alone for a while. try checking on her every 10 days thats what I did and Forelia now has nanitics about a month and a half later. I am making myself stick to 2 weeks for the first stretch! I want to see some large eggs and maybe larvae! The second stret...
