Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Guess what! Right this second I am watching my ants tugging at a pupa so that it can come alive. This is SO awesome!! That's amazing! I wish I could catch my next worker waking up. I think, though, my queen and her single worker are so weird in their brood-pile logistics. I just checked with a tiny...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

And how long should I leave a frozen thawed tiny moth in with one worker and queen? First protein attempt. Eh, nevermind on that. After a little while of pondering it, the one tiny worker ant is wrestling this small moth (cut in half but not all the way) around the tube, under the foil, biting it h...

half a cotton ball is all I use for water tube
I've used less than half a jumbo cotton ball and it seems like it's still too dry on the outside. Normal, or weird?

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hello all, my cork head queen and 8 nanaitics, eggs, larva are in the test tube, I attached an AC portal to make feeding easier, I also attached another water tube, their tube has run dry, but they wont move out to the other tube with water in it, they all seem fine, are eating fine, should I worry...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hello! I have a question for you all. What should be that sugar to water ratio so that I can feed my ants some sugar water? I might be doing it wrong, but I just mix a little of the honey or sugar stuff (whatever you use) into the water so it's still very water-like in fluidity but smells like a do...

Hey Kherafox!

How are Serena and Sol? What has happened to them?

-ArizonanAnts
Sol was infertile so I released her to become food for another critter outside. Serena died for some reason, never laid eggs either. :/

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

So after trying just honey a couple times for Helena and her single worker, with no interest, I noticed today that the little one was running around and around like she was searching. So this time I mixed up some honey water, and put it on foil just inside their tube so she didn't have to venture ou...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

I've decided to name the first lil' worker "Joy" because I'm so happy she's finally around, and because she seems to be most interested, or 'assigned' to be a brood nurse. Connecting that to Pokemon (because I'm a nerd), 'Nurse Joy'. Also, apparently (I don't watch it) there's a character in the Wor...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

That's a cool setup you've got there Kherafox. This is an exciting stage! Watching as your colony slowly grows. I've not seen the straw portal trick using in action before. It looks like a good addition to the setup. Happy anting! I don't remember where I saw or read about it, but from what I remem...
